Our homeboys from Graphic Surgery travelled to France last week to get busy at Bien Urbain. GS painted an entire building on the campus of UFC – Université de Franche-Comté – in their signature style. The festival is organized by Juste Ici, who argue that art changes and contributes to the perception of the world in cultural venues, but also in daily life.
Fifteen artist were invited to Besancon for the fourth edition of Bien Urbain to contribute to an axis within the city that connects the city center to the University campus. All of the invited artists share a common interest in the relationship between art and public space. With Graphic Surgery being so strongly influenced by architecture, they seem to be logical fit within a line-up that also included Tellas, MoMo, Zosen, and Jaz, amongst others.
According to their website, Bien Urbain is not about creating an open art gallery nor is about decorating the town. Bien Urbain offers breathing times in our daily life through visuals and sounds. More photos coming soon!
