Donovan Spaanstra is a true old-school Graffiti writer, who developed his style and skills towards a successful contemporary artist. Still using spray-paint as his main tool, he creates stunning portraits and cityscapes in his original pointillist style.
Faith71 started his career as one of the first Graffiti writers in Holland back in the year 1984. At the Academie voor beeldende kunst Minerva in Groningen, he could develop his skills and expression within an academic environment and started his career as a contemporary artist.
His works are mainly figurative and he gets his inspiration from the studies of Old Masters but also from the observation of his close surroundings. This reflects in his portraits of citizens of Amsterdam as well as famous Dutch celebrities like Majoor Boshart, Theo van Gogh or Rinus Michiels. Panoramas and city still lifes are constant topics in his art series that show his connection to Amsterdam and its outstanding architecture and flair.
